In collaboration with Opalka Gallery, Black Dimensions in Art, Inc. is pleased to present a new solo exhibition from the artist ransome. Over a sixty-year period, Black people left behind poverty and Jim Crow in search of new lives in the North, Midwest, and West. In new paintings, installation, and sculpture, he reflects on this defining moment in America’s history and the ways in which his work is interwoven with this historic narrative.

Artist tour begins at 5:30 pm. Please arrive on time if you want to participate.

Black Dimensions in Art, Inc. is planning a special “Gathering of Artists” on Sunday, September 18, at 2:30p.m. We are inviting all creative people of the African Diaspora in the Capital Region to join us. This will be an opportunity to come and network with other Black creatives across all artistic disciplines. The occasion will be commemorated with a historic photo in the tradition of “A Great Day in Harlem” taken by Art Kane in 1958. Since that photograph, others, including hip-hop artists, black screen actors, musicians and others have paid homage by doing reenactments of the photo. This will be our opportunity to do the same. The location of this photo opportunity will be at the Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence which is the site of the Underground Railroad Education Center, 194 Livingston Avenue, Albany, NY.

RSVP by September 15th.

The coordinator for this event is BDA Board member D. Colin. If you have questions about this event, please reach out to her at poet.d.colin@gmail.com, or Jacqueline Lake-Sample at bakari42@yahoo.com.

Please arrive early to make sure you are in this historic photo.
